How it is calculated

  • IESS contributions are calculated on contributable pay: salary, overtime and commissions. It excludes the 13th and 14th bonuses, the reserve fund, travel allowances and profit sharing.
  • 13th salary bonus: one twelfth of the month's earnings. 14th salary bonus: the unified basic wage (USD 482.00 in 2026) divided by 12.
  • Reserve fund: one month's pay per year (8.33 % a month) from the second year. It is not added to net pay: check with your employer or the IESS how it is paid out.

Private-sector rates for employees. Check with the IESS whether your company pays additional items. It does not include income tax withholding or other deductions (loans, advances).

Data reviewed on November 8, 2026 against these rules. This is a guide: check your payroll with your accountant.
