How the key is built
- 8 digits for the issue date (ddmmyyyy) and 2 for the document type.
- 13 for the issuer RUC and 1 for the environment: 1 test, 2 production.
- 6 for the series, 9 for the sequential number and 8 for the numeric code chosen by the issuer.
- 1 for the issue type and 1 check digit calculated with modulo 11.
What it does not check
Whether the SRI authorized the document: a well-formed key does not guarantee the invoice exists. The SRI lookup confirms that with the same key.
