The Google Maps Boom with Artificial Intelligence

In 2023, Google joined the world of artificial intelligence. Its first launch was a generative text AI initially called Bard, whose name was replaced by Gemini.

The world's most widely used maps and location search app, with 300 million users, already uses artificial intelligence to refine your search results and offer new features. With the incorporation of AI, Google invites its users to perform more specific searches, such as “a restaurant that is open and has a good chocolate cake less than 10 minutes from where I am”. In other words, it will be able to combine information and provide an answer. Another type of search could be “things to do in Guayaquil, in air-conditioned places, for very hot days”.

In addition, Maps incorporates an immersive view with much more detail than the 306-degree view. Google Maps' new immersive view is like having a crystal ball for travel. It also has another 3D viewing mode. On the other hand, you can get to know places before visiting them through a photo gallery put together by users who have already been there.

Another of Google's bets is the union of Lens and Maps, so you can point your phone's camera at any object, landscape or location and find all the information available on the internet.
